She holds a BA in English and Communications from Pace University and an MSc in Management Studies from the University of the West Indies (UWI ) Open Campus. Ward has completed MFA creative writing courses at the University of the West Indies (UWI) in Trinidad and Tobago, but started writing poetry while attending St. Maarten Academy, the high school where she now teaches English and Literature. Her poetry appears in Where I See the Sun — Contemporary Poetry in St. Martin (2013), an anthology published by House of Nehesi Publishers. Ward’s poetry encompasses womanhood, Caribbean nostalgia and culture, and the urgency to preserve and engage in nature. Her writings have appeared in The Daily Herald, trulycaribbean.net, mnialive.com, bajanreporter.com, and repeatingislands.com. Ward is the curator at saltfish & Lace, the blog that she founded and where she writes about hair and beauty care, Caribbean lifestyle and fashion, the environment, and reviews books.
